NEW EXPERTS IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF COASTAL COMMUNITIES

The graduation, yesterday, concluded the Advanced Course on Sustainable Development of Coastal Communities, which began last September in Valenzano, at the headquarters of CIHEAM Bari and continued at Avamposto MARE, its peripheral site, in the Port Museum of Tricase.

The course involved ministerial officials from Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Kenya, Lebanon, Mauritania, Mozambique, Somalia and Tunisia, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of the countries involved in planning and implementing policies, strategies and tools for the integrated management of coastal territories, offering a global vision of the Blue Economy and promoting a development of coastal areas based on an intelligent and intersectoral approach.

The course was funded by the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation and carried out by CIHEAM Bari, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
