THE FOURTH EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COURSE FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF COASTAL COMMUNITIES IS STARTING

The fourth edition of the Advanced Specialized Course on Sustainable Development of Coastal Communities – SDCC kicked off this afternoon at the Tricase headquarters of CIHEAM Bari.

The advanced training program hosts, this year, 13 officials of the Ministries of Agriculture and Fisheries of 9 coastal countries of the Mediterranean and sub-Saharan Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal, Tunisia and Uganda as well as 3 young graduates from the Salento area.

The course, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is organized by CIHEAM Bari in close collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean – GFCM.

The course intends to support the Blue Transformation by offering the participants, coming from different contexts, the opportunity to discuss issues related to the integrated management of coastal areas, seeking together shared solutions for the social and economic growth of their communities, with a strong focus on human and environmental aspect.

The course is divided into weekly modules with frontal lessons, case studies, technical visits and meeting sessions with stakeholders and the best practices of the Apulian and Salento area, starting from the sustainable management and development model called Port Museum of Tricase.
