INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP KNOTS

CIHEAM Bari, Port Museum of Tricase and the Municipal School of Lateen Sailing and Seamanship, in collaboration with Magna Grecia Mare Association, Tricase Municipality and Fratelli della Costa – Tricase, organise the event “Friendship Knots: international gathering of knot-tiers, rope-makers and sail-riggers” on 19-20-21-22 March 2020.

During the gathering, knot-tiers, rope-makers and sail-riggers of national and international panorama will illustrate and teach, with simple and playful methods, the great variety of knots still used today, in addition to the artistic and ornamental knots and ancient art of rope-making.

Seminars, workshops and book presentations will allow you to deepen, even more, the fascinating world of knots and seafaring.

The event is organised in the framework of the “Arca Adriatica” project, co-financed by the Interreg Italy-Croatia programme, and aims to structure, strengthen and transmit the knowledge of the complex cultural and natural heritage related to the seafaring history in Adriatic coast communities.
