INAUGURATED THE NEW SCIENTIFIC CENTER OF THE CIHEAM BARI IN TRICASE

The new scientific center of the Tricase headquarters of CIHEAM Bari was inaugurated this afternoon, a place intended for scientific cooperation activities, the protection of biodiversity, marine and coastal habitats, in the presence of the Hon. Raffaele Fitto, Minister for European Affairs, the South, Cohesion Policies and the PNRR.

The new structure, created thanks to a contribution from the Greece-Italy program for the “MUSE” project, integrates the operational tool of the Italian headquarters of CIHEAM in Tricase which, since 2007, has acted as an outpost supporting the comparison and sharing of valorisation experiences efficiency of the coast for Mediterranean coastal communities and the creation of new sustainable development chains.

Also present at the inauguration were 14 ministerial officials from 10 countries (Albania, Egypt, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal, Tunisia and Uganda) from the Mediterranean Basin and Sub-Saharan Africa, engaged in Tricase in the 4th Edition of the Advanced Course on Sustainable Development of Coastal Communities: a capacity building initiative wanted by the Italian Cooperation, organized by CIHEAM Bari in collaboration with FAO and GFCM.
